Our team is looking for a self-motivated individual to manage the office duties and perform administrative functions. The ideal candidate would be someone who can work independently, is very organized, can juggle several projects at one time and who has excellent customer service/relations skills. Not for profit administrative experience is an asset, but not required.

What you will do

  • Monitors, identifies, analyzes and provides recommendations on trends, risks and opportunities about four key sectors and the impacts on Canadian Muslims (education, healthcare, public safety and shelter and crisis service sector).
  • Applies advanced knowledge of social determinants of health, epidemiology and evidence-informed decision making 
  • Analyzes and interprets complex information to provide strategic recommendations that will guide policy and programming decisions working closely with the advocacy coordinator and executive director.
  • Monitors, develops, implements and advocates for policies that will have positive implications for Canadian Muslim communities.
  • Provides expert guidance to the program planning and evaluation process
  • Prepares specialized documentation, technical reports and statistical analyses
  • Synthesizes complex information into a wide range of written and visual communication products such as reviews of research evidence, briefing documents, policy positions and presentations
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and represents the Muslim Advisory Council of Canada at local, provincial and federal meetings and conferences
  • Designs and implements knowledge translation activities related to research evidence, data and policy
  • Acts as a lead in research evidence review processes

What we require:

  • Policy, Planning, Poltical Science or related degree
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in policy and research preferred 
  • Strong knowledge in qualitative and quantitative research methods and analytical skills including critical appraisal and appropriate use of evidence 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced knowledge/ technical knowledge including population health, social determinants of health, assessment of research evidence, epidemiology and applicable legislation

Project Coordinator

The ideal candidate will have post secondary education in political science, communications, public relations or a related field coupled with one to three years of relevant experience supporting governmental relations activities.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) 

  • Assist Executive Director to execute activities to support advocacy efforts 
  • Effectively inform members of any changes in governmental policy, process, laws, etc. through various means 
  • Develop educational materials and campaigns to inform members of government changes affecting the Muslim communities
  • Develop promotional and educational campaigns that effectively inform the public about Islamophobia or issues pertaining to the diverse Muslim communities
  • Monitor media and social media to address concerns, support partners, monitor the activity of politicians/elected officials, etc. 
  • Work closely with the Social Media Community Manager and Graphic Designer to execute campaigns on social media and other digital properties, including the development of videos 
  • Attend meetings with elected officials, government staff, community partners, etc. 
  • Take meeting minutes and develop materials for meetings when required 
  • Develop and report monthly metrics to measure success 
  • Constantly look for ways to increase the quality of resources for members, regarding advocacy, policy, etc. 
  • Prepare press releases for distribution and acts as liaison for media interviews 
  • Develop official speaking points, key messages, reports, and direction for communications for MACC
  • Assist with the digital distribution of member communications

Qualifications 

  • Undergraduate education in a discipline appropriate and relevant to government relations and communications, or equivalent experience in the field 
  • Minimum of one to three years relevant experience in working with elected representatives, community organizations or within structured government 
  • Experience in using software and applications such as Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, e-mail, blogging platforms, Internet, and knowledge of new development in electronic communications

The primary responsibility of the Fund Development Coordinator-Grants is the execution and support of a fundraising program allowing Muslim Advisory Council of Canada to meet its mission. This will include the coordination of and development of grant proposals, major gifts management and support for annual giving activities. Primary Duties:

  • Collaborates with Office Manager and Executive Director to create a fund development plan to support the strategic plan of the organization 
  • Develops and executes strategies to actively identify cultivate, solicit and steward corporate, foundation and individual prospects in support of campaigns and annual fundraising goals 
  • Provide hands-on execution for the MACC’s annual donations campaigns 
  • Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved 
  • Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary
  • Researches and writes proposals to potential funders that will assist in realizing the goals 
  • Provide recommendations to achieve fundraising, and donations revenue targets.

The Public Relations Manager will be responsible for developing and leading the strategy of owned brand communication channels, Events and Experiences and co-lead Influencer strategy. The PR Manager will be accountable for creative concepting, brand storytelling and expanding brand awareness through community building and experiential programming and will lead external agency relationship. This position requires a deep understanding of MACC’s philosophy, product knowledge, business goals, the customer, competition, and related industry trends. The ultimate goal of this role is to inform the market on who MACC is, what MACC offers, and how we stand apart from our competitors.

Job Description:

• Develop and maintain marketing communications plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics for Canadian market

• Create & execute innovative press and influencer strategies to promote all seasonal collections and brand awareness, in line with business objectives to achieve target metrics such as impressions, engagement, customer acquisition/retention and sales conversion.

• Develop media relations strategy, seeking high level placements in print, broadcast and online media

• Cultivate and maintain media and influencer relationships to maximize brand exposure and build community around brand

• Manage new media inquiries and interview requests

• Create and adapt content for press releases

• Monitor, analyze, and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis

• Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting MACC clients to make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding those concerns

Desired Skills and Experiences:

• 1-2 + years of experience in public relations at brand or agency required

Reporting to the Executive Director, the  Social Media Community Manager will play an integral role with the team ensuring that campaign touchpoints are catered to optimally. By building and nurturing a digital community through meaningful dialogue and engagement, MACC can continue to grow, generating awareness, advocacy, and mobilization to support our vision of an equitable society.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

  • Enable real-time communications and enhance volume, velocity, and quality of MACC’s social media, web and email communications channels/platforms. 
  • Lead the community management of all social media & email/web channels/platforms through active content development, publishing, monitoring, listening, community engagement and reporting. 
  • Support the development and lead the deployment of a social media, audience engagement & email strategy through research, insights, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies as needed to develop fresh, ongoing multimedia content (Copy, Infographics, Images, Videos, E-newsletters, Podcasts, etc.) relevant to audiences according to defined segmentation, channel-type, and journey stage. Works closely with MACC summer student intermediate graphic designer.
  • Support the strategy development and actively manage the email marketing lifecycle (Campaign Email Journeys/Messaging/Publishing/Scheduling/Engagement). 
  • Provide insights based on data (keyword/industry/research/trends) to inform content marketing strategy and collaboration with content contributors to create impactful, objective-oriented content. 
  • Discover and explore digital trends, best practices, relevant competitor/industry approaches, new solutions and opportunities, that can contribute to strategic objectives and/or audience experience.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT FIT IF YOU HAVE 

  • Post-secondary education in Communications/Business/Marketing/Public Relations or Journalism. 
  • Proven digital community management experience. 
  • Experience in building and managing email marketing/advocacy/mobilization campaigns.

You should have between 2-5 years experience and be able to showcase previous work that covers brand and promotional projects. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of national advocacy campaigns. There will be close collaboration with colleagues from a variety of departments: office manager, project coordinator, communications, outreach, etc and you will have the opportunity to collaborate and guide members of our in-house production group to bring your designs and concepts to life and get them out on social. Events Coordinator

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Events & Outreach Coordinator will support the effective coordination, delivery and facilitation of our core events and spring and summer fundraising directives serving communities throughout Halton Region & beyond. We require an experienced event management professional to manage the coordination of a virtual and in-person (combo) event this spring and summer, while also contributing to marketing, stakeholder outreach and administrative responsibilities.

 Specific Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of our Ramadan, Eid, Islamic History Month events etc
  • Manage employer recruitment for event, including: Eventbrite registrations, phone calls, Zoom meetings, emails 
  • Manage marketing for the event in conjunction with the needs and guidelines of involved partners 
  • Attend in person or virtual local events and meetings to promote MACC initiatives 
  • Assist staff with preparations and promotions for upcoming events 
  • Contact stakeholders throughout the region to secure registrations
